In this lab, students will be looking at Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MOSFETs), their operation, and applications in real-world examples and hands-on experiments. First, students will explore the definition and theory of a MOSFET and its functions. Then, students will examine MOSFETs and their importance in circuitry via simulation followed by application on a bread board.


This is lab 6 of 14 in the course, Analog Electronics.


After completing this lab, students will be able to:
  1. Discuss the characteristics, operation, and application of MOSFETs and identify the difference between a BJT and a MOSFET based on their behaviors.
  2. Identify the regions of operation and the threshold voltage of a MOSFET.
  3. Manipulate the input of a MOSFET to make it operate as a switch.
