This lab explores the thermo-resistive properties of a thermistor. The student will collect temperature data, calibrate the sensor, and determine its thermal time-constant. Finally, the student will filter the signal to improve its quality.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


After completing this lab, students will be able to:
  1. Apply a 2-point calibration to a thermistor.
  2. Determine the beta-constant of a thermistor.
  3. Apply a low-pass filter to the thermistor output. 
  4. Determine the thermal time-constant of a thermistor using a step input.

  • Basic LabVIEW Proficiency
